With the help of crowdsourcing volunteers, we were able to identify the names of the individuals in the images below. Some people were identified by their relatives, some by historians and some recognized themselves. We are very grateful to everybody who sent us information.

We invite everyone to share with us as much information as possible about the persons depicted in these photographs. Ernst Wolff
The man second from the right is Ernst Wolff. He was a German refugee from Vreden who survived the war. This photograph shows Jewish prisoners from Westerbork collecting bread from the bakery in Hooghalen to bring back to the camp. They were guarded by Dutch police officers. The baker, dressed in white, and a child, most probably his son, can be seen on the left handside of the image.

Delden-Loos Family
The girl wearing the skirt is Rebecca Delden. The pram on the right could be her aunt's, her father's sister Eva Wijnschenk-Delden (19 April 1910, Amsterdam - 28 May 1943, Sobibor) who lived with Samuel and Sara in their house, together with Samuel's mother as well, Leentje Delden-Ossedrijver. Eva's son Arnold Wijnschenk (8 November 1942, Amsterdam - 28 May 1943 Sobibor) was not even a year old. They were all deported and killed on the same day.

At the registration table stands Sara Emma Paulina Polak-Schwarz (1900-1969) with her bag and coat clutched under her arm, and next to her slightly bent over and speaking with the administrator, her sister Henriëtte Antoinette Polak-Schwarz (1893-1974). In the photo to the right of Henriëtte is her daughter Ans (Annie) Leontine Willy Polak (1924) in a nurse's uniform. Behind the women are Sara's two sons: Johan Polak (1928-1992) behind Ans, and Rob Polak (1925- 2020) behind his mother.

This image shows the staff and students of the Jewish Lyceum in Leeuwarden, which was located at the Emmakade 83. One of the students, B. Troostwijk, identified his teachers and class mates for the monthly magazine of the 'Stichting Leeuwarder Gemeenschap' in 1965 [Maandblad onder auspiciën van de stichting “Leeuwarder Gemeenschap” volume 14 (1965), no. 1 – January 1965]. This article was sent to us by Jan van der Weij, who was born in the building some years later.

Salomon Scheffer
This photograph shows Salomon Scheffer, (Amsterdam, 17/11/1919 - Auschwitz, 31/03/1944), who was a student of economics at the University of Amsterdam. He obtained special permission to continue his studies after Jewish students were forbidden from attending university and completed his bachelor's degree before permission was withdrawn. He also served as one of the thousands of volunteers who assisted the Joodsche Raad. He is shown here standing on the left hand-side of the photograph, alongside other volunteers who worked as part of the 'assistance to the departed' division.
Salomon was deported to Auschwitz in 1943 and was murdered there in 1944.

Willem Horneman (08/12/1916) shown working as a blacksmith in Camp Westerbork. In 1944, Horneman was arrested while working for the resistance in Apeldoorn and was sent to Westerbork as a political prisoner. Edwin Sluzker
Members of the Jewish Council receive instructions from a German officer during a transport departing from Amsterdam Oost. The man with the white band on the right is Edwin Sluzker (1907-1965), lawyer and head of the Expositur, a section of the Jewish Council that acted as a liaison with the Zentralstelle für jüdische Auswanderung Amsterdam. Sluzker went into hiding in 1944 and survived the war.

Simon Frank
The elderly man behind the German soldier is most likely Simon Frank (27 July 1851, Amsterdam - 13 March 1943, Sobibor). He lived in the Joodse Invalide, a Jewish retirement home, at Weesperplein 1. On March 2, 1943, the residents were deported to Camp Westerbork via the Muiderpoort train station.

The man wearing glasses is Levie (Louis) Blitz (Amsterdam, 27/05/1913 - 31/03/1944), and standing behind him is his brother Luc Blitz (1916-1942). The man with the cigarette in his mouth is Arie Englander (21/10/1909, Amsterdam - 02/02/1945, Gross Rosen). The man closest to the camera is possibly Gerrit Speijer.​

The wedding of Edie van Biene and Sara Rood
Eddie (Elias) van Biene and Sara (Sonja) Rood were married in The Hague on the 26 July 1942. Van Biene was murdered in KZ Althammer; an Außernlager of KZ Auschwitz. Sonja Rood went into hiding, but was arrested and transported to Auschwitz. She managed to survive and immigrated to Israel in 1949, where she married again.
The wedding photograph was taken by S. Oppelaar, reportage photographer at 82 Zoutmanstraat in The Hague.​
